• 1850: In response to the lawlessness of the Gold Rush, San Francisco newspaperman Matthew Baylor puts on a mask and calls himself The Black Hawk, after an Indian tribal charm that supposedly granted him amazing luck.

The Golden Era

The Golden Age

• 1939: The New York World's Fair's theme is the 'World of Tomorrow'. On display is Metron, what some scholars now believe is the world's first autonomous android. After wowing millions, Metron disappears after the first six months of the Fair and has not been seen since.
• 1942: The Stranger discovered near the North Pole nearby a U.S. 'weather station'.
• 1943: Nikola Tesla unlocks The Stranger, and dies. First Manifestation occurs in France; others follow world-wide.
• 1944: The U.S. First Metahuman Brigade leads the assault at Normandy; D-Day.
• 1947: Roswell Incident.
• 1948: Turkmenistan, Russia. Stalin's most powerful metahuman, code-named 'Temblor', causes a massive earthquake that kills over 100,000 people. Soviet experiments on metahumans move towards psionics research following the incident.
• 1949: Protocol I added to the Geneva Convention; article 35 includes both nuclear devices and metahumans as prohibited weapons of war.
• 1949-1954: Senator Joseph McCarthy reigns over the second Red Scare; his attempts to utilize telepaths to determine communist sympathies become public during the Army-McCarthy hearings and are condemned by both the Senate and the public as a massive invasion of privacy.
• 1950: First Metahuman Brigade disbanded.
• 1950: First known 'superhero vigilantes' begin operating inside the United States, in response to rising meta-crime activities. Rumors of earlier such vigilantes remain unconfirmed.

The Silver Era

The Silver Age

• 1952: Freedom Brigade established under FBI jurisdiction.
• 1953: Stephens-Williams Act provides procedures for vigilantes to become 'legal' citizen patrollers.
• 1954: First Costumed Hero death, July 09. The Cavalier is killed in Boston while attempting to stop an armed robbery. A plaque to him is commemorated in 1956.
• 1955: Watkins Act bars telepathic evidence from legal proceedings under the Fifth Amendment - self-incrimination.
• 1966: In response to North Vietnamese use of metahumans, Freedom Brigade is deployed to Vietnam by President Johnson.
• 1967: FBI confirms existance of the first 'home-grown' metahuman terrorist organization, the Midnight Army. Originally formed to protest the US involvement in Vietnam, the organization is quickly co-opted by subversive elements and it's original leadership killed.
• 1973: Returning from Vietnam, Freedom Brigade dissolves due to political and personal stress experienced during and after the war.
• 1976: Camp Dilligence established, the first metahuman containment facility built to hold super powered criminals. The prison was built inside a dormant volcano near Hawaii and powered by geothermal generators designed by Doc Tellus under contract to the US Department of Defense.

The Bronze Era

The Bronze Age

• 1982: First Metahuman Brigade re-established as a Cold War deterrent to similar Russian programs.
• 1987: First public extraterrestrial incursion in recorded history; 'disc like' vessel appears in orbit, assaults Area 51 in Nevada. The ship is repelled by the military, but not before the wreckage recovered during the Roswell Incident is destroyed. U.S. knowledge of alien existence becomes public, though the details remain classified - species of invaders remains unknown. Conspiracy theorists rejoice.
• 1989: In response to the Berlin Wall coming down, a renegade faction of Russian troops known as Rasputin's Comrades attack NYC. They are repelled by the First Metahuman working in conjunction with their Soviet counterparts, the Glorious Red Army. Widely considered to be the end of the Cold War.

The Modern Era

The Modern Age

• 1992: First case of a minor metahuman being tried in the case of Andrew 'Face' Waterson vs the RIAA. In a landmark decision the case was thrown out of court when the teen claimed he was hired by the estates of Jim Morrison and Elvis to keep their legends alive.
• 2001: Islamic extremist metahumans demolish Twin Towers in NYC in a suicide attack, also attack the Pentagon but fail.
• 2002: Freedom Brigade re-established under the Starke Act as an independent agency to deal with metahuman threats both foreign and domestic to the United States.
• 2006: Californian Tectonic Event. Although the cause is highly debated, the earthquake devastates the entire state, reshaping the geography and demolishing most of the cities along the San Andreas fault line. The death toll is in the tens of thousands.
• 2006 — Newly declassified documents show the McCarthy's telepaths were provided by a man later revealed to have ties to Soviet Russia: McCarthy's telepath program was in fact staffed by Communist telepaths who manipulated certain minds in Washington to bring down the Senator, then disappear into the fabric of American society.
• 2007: Work on the San Angeles Megalopolis begins along Angel Bay.
• 2010: Current year.
